The name “Smunicent” comes from twenty-five cents in Ethiopia — a small amount that often symbolizes humble beginnings. For our founder, it carries a deeper meaning: at just eight years old, his very first revenue in business was a single smunicent coin.
That experience taught him the power of starting small, the value of hard work, and the belief that even the smallest steps can grow into something great. Today, Smunicent Solutions carries that same spirit — building a platform where small acts of support within our community can grow into meaningful change.

The Inspiration Behind Smunicent
When I first came to Virginia, I faced challenges finding real opportunities because there was no organized way to access reliable information. Many people gave advice, but it wasn’t always accurate or practical. Eventually, through a personal connection, I found work in Texas — showing me that support exists, but the problem is lack of access.
This challenge goes beyond jobs. Whether it’s finding housing, navigating life abroad, or sharing important community updates, there is no centralized platform for Habesha people to connect and support each other. Today, information is scattered across social media and small groups, making it hard to reach the right people at the right time.
That’s why we created Smunicent Solutions: to build an organized, trusted platform where community members can ask for help, share solutions, and grow together.

Founder & CEO
Tamirat Zenebe is the founder and CEO of Smunicent Solutions LLC. With an academic background in Computer Science and Marketing Management and over 15 years of experience in business leadership, Tamirat brings a unique blend of technical expertise and strategic vision.
Passionate about empowering the Habesha diaspora, he founded Smunicent to create a trusted platform where community members can support one another, solve challenges, and grow together. Guided by the belief that “Helping Each Other” is the foundation of strong communities, Tamirat is committed to driving both social impact and sustainable business growth.
